Release Notes

Release: v1.0.3

Please see the main documentation page for help on installation, configuration and creating your own HealthCheck components.

What's New?

  • Core
    • Added a REST data feed (implemented as a WCF REST Starter Kit based Activity) that outputs Geckoboard formatted JSON data.
      • This is HUGE! You can now visualise your MonitorWang HealthCheck results via custom Geckoboard widgets such as Pie Charts, Line Charts, Geck-o-meter, comparisons - alongside your other business critical data from feeds such as Google Analytics, Twitter, Pingdom, Basecamp, Highrise....
      • Geckoboard is "invite only" at the moment, please visit them and request an invite so you can get set up ASAP - there is a waiting list so get on it NOW!
      • See the Activities page for details on this new Activity and how to configure it, set up your Geckoboard and secure the data feed with a Geckoboard ApiKey.
    • Modified Sql HealthCheck result publisher to support overwrite (save only the last result) or streaming data (save all results to build a history)
    • Added new property to HealthCheckData (result) - ResultCount, allows HealthChecks to publish a scalar (long/Int64) value from a check
    • Added new column to AgentData sql table - ResultCount is a nullable BIGINT that stores the ResultCount from a HealthCheck
    • All checks have been updated to return a suitable value in the ResultCount property - see the HealthChecks page for details about what value each check places in this property
    • Added Sql scalar HealthCheck - this allows you to provide the FROM cause to a Sql query and MonitorWang will generate a result based on the COUNT of rows returned. This makes it very easy to monitor a database for specific conditions and report on them. See HealthChecks for more details on this new check and how to configure it.
    • The ConnectionString property of any component that has this is now "smart" - this can be an actual connection string OR the name of a connection stored in config\data.connection.config. This means that you can reference a connection string rather than have to replicate it to the various database components that require it making deployment easier.

For existing installs please run the Scripts\Database\MonitorWang.sql script to add the new column to your existing AgentData table
